Marianne van Hage is Professor of Clinical Immunology at the Department of Medicine Solna, and Senior Consultant Clinical Immunologist at the Department of Clinical Immunology at Karolinska University Hospital Stockholm, Sweden. She is the Head of Clinical Immunology and Allergy Unit since 2002 and Deputy Head of the Department of Medicine Solna since 2008. She also serves as Chairman of the Committee of Expertise in Appointing Consultant Physicians at Karolinska University Hospital. Her research group, “Allergic diseases, from molecular mechanisms to new therapeutic strategies”, aims to increase the knowledge of the molecular mechanisms involved in allergic diseases and to investigate the diagnostic potential of novel disease allergen markers in order to develop new strategies for allergy vaccination. Marianne van Hage has been awarded several important prizes, such as Swedish Society for Allergology’s (SFFA) Major Award in 2015. Marianne van Hage has published more than 270 original articles, editorials and book chapters in international journals or books, which are highly cited, as well as three patents. Her research is focused on the molecular mechanisms of underlying allergic disease and the function of allergens.
